Method Of Masah Of The Head
Question
I have heard of 2 procedures for Masah of the head:
First is to pass all 4 fingers over the head from front to back and that’s it.
The second is to use only the last 3 fingers of each hand from front to back and then use the wet palm for the side of the head.
Which of these is the Sunnah method?
Answer
The first procedure has not been mentioned in the books of Hanafi jurisprudence and will not encompass the whole head, therefore not fulfilling the Sunnah. A procedure close to the one you have mentioned is to pass all 4 fingers, with the palms and the thumbs from the front of the head till the back. This procedure has been mentioned by the Jurists.
The Jurists have also mentioned the second procedure.
