Question

Is it Sunnah to apply Surma on a Thursday night or every night?

Answer

It is Sunnah to apply surma at night before going to sleep on any night and not only on Thursday as indicated by the following narration:

Ibn Abbas Radhiyallahu Anhu narrates that Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam said: Apply Ithmid

surma as it increases the eyesight and causes the hair to grow. He also believes that Nabi

Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam had a surma holder from which he used to apply surma every night

thrice in this eye and thrice in this one.

(Sunan at-Tirmizi Hadith1757)
