A Musaafir Imaam Leading Muqeem In Salaah

· 26 Ramadan 1444 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

If a Musaafir leads the Salaah, and he reads 4 Rakaats, what is the condition of the Salaah of the Muqeems? Do they have to repeat their Salaah?

Answer

In the queried scenario the Muqeems will have to repeat their Salaah. The third and fourth Rakaat performed by the Musaafir Imaam will be considered as Nafl (if the Imaam sat for the first Qa’dah after 2 Rakaats.) This will then mean that the Muqeem who is performing Fardh is following an Imaam that is engaged in Nafl in the third and fourth Rakaat, whereas a person performing Fardh cannot follow an Imaam that is performing Nafl. Hence the Muqeem will have to repeat the Fardh Salaah in the above case.
