Question

I would like to know what the ruling is regarding the consuming of calamari and sushi.

Answer

According to the Hanafi Madhab it is not permissible to eat calamari as it does not fall in the category of fish.

[Fataawa Darul Uloom Zakariyya pg.272 Vol.6].

Sushi refers to eating of sliced raw fish as a meal. It is permissible to consume fish thus there shouldn’t be any harm in consuming Sushi, if prepared with Halaal ingredients.
