Alimahs And Students Going To Play Sports At A Sports Centre Or Grounds

Question

Is it permissible for Aalimahs of a Madrassah to go and play sports at a sports centre? It’s only the Aalimahs and students of the Madrassah who are playing.

Answer

It will not be permissible for Alimahs and students of a girl Madrasah to play sports at any centre or grounds even though the centre may be occupied by females only at that particular time. When women have been categorically commanded to remain indoors and only leave the confines of their homes in the case of dire necessity, then how can it be permissible for them to venture outdoors with the intention of engaging in sports and entertainment. Allah Ta’aala states,

“Remain in your homes and do not make a display of yourselves as was the practice of the former period of ignorance.”

[Ahzaab verse 33]
