Regret & Dua
Question
Assalamu Alaykum
Q1) If a person says the Umm Salama RA Dua will Allah SWT replace this person's regret that he has about not doing worldly things earlier with something much better in this world. For example, if a person regrets not buying a car earlier so that he could've got married earlier if he says the Umm Salama RA Dua will Allah SWT replace this regret that he has with something much better in this world?
Q2) If for example a person’s marriage breaks and the person says the Umm Salama RA Dua will Allah SWT get this person married to a better person than he was married to before?
Shukran for answering my previous questions and understanding my situation.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-Salāmu ʿAlaykum Wa-Raḥmatullāhi Wa-Barakātuh
Shayṭān is our clearest enemy. He wants us to remain depressed over the past rather than focus on the future. Therefore, we should learn from our past mistakes, make sincere tawbah for our shortcomings, and focus on the opportunities that remain.
Yes, practise the dua of Umm Salama رضي الله عنه along with the following duas,
1. رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”
2. رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
“Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred.”
3. رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
“Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You].”
4. رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
“Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Moreover, recite Quran daily, stay away from sins and adopt proper channel (involving senior family members or Imam) to get married to a person who has good character and deen.

We make dua that Allah ﷻ should ease your afflictions, replace your losses with what is better for you, grant you contentment with His decree, and enable you to use the time and opportunities that remain in ways that earn His pleasure. Āmīn.
And Allah Taʿāla Knows Best.
