Question

I will like to know the ruling regarding Salaat-ut-Taraweeh in Jama’ah for ladies?

Can they follow a Shafi’ee Imaam?

If the ladies are following Salaah in the classrooms and the masjid is above the classrooms, would this be acceptable?

What are the requirements for Hanafi women to perform Salaah in Jamaat?

Answer

Women should not leave their homes to perform the Taraweeh Salaah in Jamaat. They should perform their Taraweeh Salaah individually, within the confines of their homes. If there is a Mahram that is leading the Taraweeh Salaah inside the home, then they may follow him. In this instance, only the Mahaarim females should join. Females of the locality should not be invited to participate in the congregational Taraweeh Salaah.

It is Makrooh for women (only) to perform Salaah in Jamaat. They should perform their Salaah at home, as explained above.
