Burying spouses in the same grave
Question
My husband attended his paternal aunt’s funeral recently. Her children arranged for her to be buried in the same grave as her late husband. Is this permissible?
Answer
There was no problem in burying her in her late husband’s grave (that passed away some time ago), as long as the body had disintegrated. If any bones are found (in the grave), they should be put aside and covered, and the deceased should be placed over the covering.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
