Question

Is it permissible to prepare special kinds of foods to eat on auspicious nights like, Shabe Baraat, Aa’shurah, Laylatul Miraj etc.?

Answer

There is no harm in preparing and eating good food on the night of Bara’aat, or on the 27th of Rajab which is generally known amongst the masses to be the night of Me’raj, or on the eve of Aashura. However, if one considers it necessary and obligatory to prepare certain dishes on these occasions, then it will be considered as a Bid’ah (innovation).
