Performing Salaah in Jamaat with family members

Question

If a man misses his Salaah with jamaat (in the Masjid) and now forces his wife and daughters to perform Salaah with him in congregation, then will it count as performing Salaah with Jamaat?

Answer

Yes, it will be counted as performing Salaah with Jamaat. However, the reward of performing Jamaat Salaah in the Masjid is far greater.

عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكر عن أبيه – رضي الله عنهما – أن رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم خَرَجَ لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَاسْتَخْلَفَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ فَرَجَعَ بَعْدَ مَا صَلَّى فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ – صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ – بَيْتَهُ وَجَمَعَ أَهْلَهُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ بِأَذَانٍ وَإِقَامَةٍ» (طبراني رقم 4601)

وَتَحْصُلُ فَضِيلَةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ بِصَلَاتِهِ مَعَ وَاحِدٍ (أي من الصبيان) إلَّا فِي الْجُمُعَةِ فَلَا تَصِحُّ بِثَلَاثَةٍ هُوَ مِنْهُمْ (الاشباه والنظائر ص144ج2)
