Question

1.Which limbs of the body is a women permitted to remove hair from by laser, waxing etc in the case where she will do the removal personally not exposing her awrah before others?

Answer

The actual Sunnah of removing hair from the underarms and private parts will be obtained by plucking the hair (for females) or by using any such substance by which cleanliness is acquired, whether it is a hair removal cream or laser removal. It is best not to remove the hair on the legs, chest, back, etc. However, it is not Haraam to remove it either.

It is best that men should shave the underarms and pubic hair using a razor. However, if a scissor or hair removal creams are used then too it will be acceptable. [Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah Pg.472 Vol.27]

Question:-

3. For facial and pubic hair removal which creams are regarded Halaal?

Answer:-

We are not aware of the Halaal hair removal creams available on the market. You may seek clarification from suppliers on this matter.

Question:-

4. Is a woman permitted to have her body hair removed by her husband, brother etc.?

Answer:-

The husband is permitted to view his wife’s body (although it is against Hayaa), hence there is no issue if he assists in removing hair from her body. However, the body should not be exposed before the brother particularly in this era of Fitnah.

Question:-

5. Is a women permitted to do the same for her husband, brother etc.?

Answer:-

Similarly, only the wife may view the body of her husband and assist in removing hair. However, one should assist in removing the spouse’s hair at the time of necessity.

Question:-

6. Currently certain youth have their underarms, facial hair, chest etc. waxed & threaded by na Mahram females stating that there is absolutely no problem as it is not their awrah and na Mahram women are permitted to touch from a males body those parts which they are permitted to see. They also state that their choice of having women to remove the hair for them is due to the care, caution and expertise of these women when removing the hair. I personally feel disgusted however i would like to find out the Sharee ruling with regard to permissibility

Answer:-

It is Haraam for these boys to allow females to touch them. Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam never touched the hand of a strange woman throughout his life. Further, it is not permissible to glance at the opposite gender hence their reasoning and understanding is totally corrupt. These are their flimsy excuses to justify the Haraam enjoyment which they are attaining from these women.
