Question

Will a cap be considered a Topi?

Answer

A Topi literally means a “head cover”. Mufti Mahmood Saheb Rahimahullah mentions in Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah that the Topi worn by Nabi Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam was round, flat and it would hold or cling onto his Mubarak head. It is also mentioned the certain Sahaabah Radiallahu Anhum wore a high or raised Topi. Furthermore, the Topi worn by the righteous and pious Ulama is worthy of being emulated.

Now, the Topi in question will not be considered as a Topi according to the above description, rather it would either be categorized as a ‘sun-hat’ or a ‘Cap.’ Also, this type of hat is not worn by the pious Ulama.

عبارت مذکورہ سے معلوم ہوا کہ مختلف قسم کی ٹوپی استعمال کی گئی ہے، ایسی بھی کہ جس میں

سترہ بننے کی صلاحیت ہے ، اور گول بھی جو کہ سر سے چپکی ہوئی ہو۔

سوال: حضوراکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کس قسم کی ٹوپی پہننا ثابت ہے؟ اور ہماری کوئی ٹوپیاں پہننا مطابق سنت ہیں؟

ٹو پی عموماً گول سرمبارک پر چپکی ہوئی ہوتی تھی ، بعض صحابہ کرام سے طویل بھی منقول ہے ،اکابرصلحاء کالباس قابل اتباع ہے۔
