Question

1. What are the virtues of visiting Madinah Munawwarah?

2. What the the virtues of visiting Masjidul Aqsa?

Answer

1. There are many virtues recorded in the Mubarak Ahadith for visiting Madinah Munawwarah. The greatest virtue is to make Ziyaarat of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Some of these virtues are mentioned below:

It is reported from Umar Radiallahu Anhu that he heard Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying, “The one who visits my grave or visits Me, I will intercede for him or be a witness for him, and the one who passes away in one of the two Harams, Allah will resurrect him on the day of Qiyaamah from amongst those who will be in safety.”

It is reported from Anas bin Maalik Radiallahu Anhu that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “The one who passes away in one of the two Harams will be resurrected on the day of Qiyaamah from amongst those who will be in safety, and the one who visits me in Madinah hoping for reward will be in my proximity on the day of Qiyaamah.”

It is reported from Ibn Umar Radiallahu Anhu from Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, “The one who performs Haj and visits my Qabr after my demise is as though he visited me in my lifetime.”

2. Regarding Masjid-e-Aqsa,

It is reported from Maimoonah Radiallahu Anha that she asked Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, “Inform us about Masjidul Aqsa.” Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “It is a land where people will be gathered ad resurrected (on the day of Qiyaamah), go to it and perform Salaah in it for indeed one Salaah in it is equal to thousand Salaahs.”

It is reported from Umme Salamah Radhiallahu Anha that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Whoever ties Ihraam for Umrah or Hajj from Masjidul Aqsa, his previous (minor) sins will be forgiven.”

It is reported from Abdullah bin Umar Radiallahu Anhu that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Nabi Sulayman (Alaihis Salaam) asked Allah for three favours… The third favour was that anyone who leaves his home with the sole intention of performing Salaah in Masjidul Aqsa then all his sins will be forgiven. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam then said, “We hope that Allah accepted this Dua of his.”
