Are we allowed to wear anything with the picture of an anchor?

Question

Are we allowed to wear anything with the picture of an anchor? I read that its origin is from the cross.

Answer

It is recorded on the internet that the anchor represents the virtue of hope, but it can also represent the cross, which is a symbol of Christian faith. Hence, due to its resemblance to the cross and Christianity, we advise abstention from wearing such clothing. Consider the following verse and Hadith:

“And do not incline towards those who do wrong, for then the fire shall reach you, and you will not have any helpers against Allah and you will not be assisted (by anyone.)”

“Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”

عن ابنِ عُمَرَ، قال: قال رسولُ الله – صلَّى الله عليه وسلم -: مَن تَشَبَّه بقومٍ فهو منهم (سنن ابي داود #4031)
