Status of the Two Rakaats After Tawaaf

Question

Will the 2 Rakaats that are performed after Tawaaf, be read with the Niyyah of Waajib Salaah or Nafl Salaah?

Answer

The 2 Rakaats performed after Tawaaf is Waajib. However, the intention of Nafl Salaah should be made. [Re: Fataawa Uthmaaniyyah Vol:4 Pg:284]

فإذا فرغ من الطواف أتى مقام إبراهيم، ويصلي ركعتين، وإن لم يقدر على الصلاة في المقام بسبب الزحمة يصلي حيث تيسر له عليه من المسجد، وهاتان ركعتان واجبتان عندنا قال عليه السلام: «ويصلي الطائف كل أسبوع ركعتين»(المحيط البرهاني 2/701)
