Combining Different Nafl Salaah

If one commences a Nafl Salaah with the intention of performing more than 2 Rakaats, then it is obligatory upon one to complete two Rakaats only, even though he may have intended more than 2 Rakaats. This is because every two Rakaats are considered as independent Rakaats.

Now, if one makes Niyyat to perform a four Rakaat Nafl Salaah and then intends to combine two Rakaats of Salaatut Taubah in it (for example), then doing so will be permitted, since he will be combining the two Rakaats of Salaatut Taubah in the first two Rakaats of the four Rakaat Salaah. He then has a choice of either completing the remaining two Rakaats, or not as explained above.
