Best Talaaq

Question

A man wants to issue his wife Talaaq. Please advise on the most appropriate way of issuing the Talaaq?

Answer

The best form of Talaaq according to the Fuqaha is that one issues a single Talaaq in a clean period in which he didn’t have any relations with his wife, and then leaves her until her Iddat terminates.

الطلاق على ثلاثة أوجه: أحسن الطلاق، وطلاق السنة، وطلاق البدعة؛ فأحسن الطلاق: أن يطلق الرجل امرأته تطليقةً واحدةً في طهرٍ لم يجامعها فيه ويتركها حتى تنقضي عدتها. وطلاق السنة: أن يطلق المدخول بها ثلاثاً في ثلاثة أطهار، وطلاق البدعة: أن يطلقها ثلاثاً بكلمةٍ واحدةٍ، أو ثلاثاً في طهرٍ واحدٍ.
