What is the ruling regarding cosmetic surgery in Shari‘ah?

Question

Answer

Undergoing plastic surgery with the sole objective of beautification and adornment is not desirous. However, if such surgery is conducted to remove some natural deficiency or defect, then there doesn’t appear to be any harm in doing so in terms of Shari’ah.

محض حسن آرائی اور زیبائش کے لئے پلاسٹک سرجری شريعت میں پسندیدہ نہیں ہے؛ البتہ کسی پیدائشی نقص کو دور کرنے کے لئے یہ عمل کرایا جائے تو شرع اس میں کوئی مضائقہ معلوم نہیں ہوتا، اور حسب تحریر سوال اس عمل میں کوئی چین بون پر نہیں چڑھائی جاتی اس لئے وضو یا نماز میں اس کی وجہ سے کوئی خلل واقع نہیں ہوگا ۔

عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال : لعن الله الواشمات والمستوشمات، والمتنمصات، والمتفلجات للحسن المغيرات خَلْقَ الله تعالى. (صحيح مسلم ۲۰٥/٢ رقم: ۲۱۲۵ )

عن عبد الرحمن بن عرفة أن جده عرفجة بن أسعد قطع أنفه يوم الكلاب فاتخذ أنفًا من ورق فأنتن عليه، فأمره النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فاتخذ أنفًا من ذهب (سنن أبي داؤد ٥٨٢) فقط واللہ تعالیٰ اعلم
