Question
Does a pregnant woman have to fast?
Answer
A pregnant woman is exempted from fasting, if illness or harm is genuinely feared upon herself or the foetus. She will have to make Qadha of the fasts later. However, if there is no such fear, fasting remains obligatory upon a pregnant woman.
Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
