Question

Is there any narration that the Messenger of Allah was cupped on his hip due to a pain in that area?

Answer

Yes. Imam Abu Dawud and other Muhaddithun have authentically reported the following Hadith:

“Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was cupped on his hip due to discomfort/pain in [that area].”

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 3859. Also see: Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, Hadith: 2660 and footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah -hafizahullah- on Musannaf, Hadith: 14809)
