Calling out the Azaan even though there may be only one person
Question
At work we have a Namaaz room or Jamaat Khana. The question I have is that do we need to give azaan for the different Namaaz. At times we have only 2 people reading the salaat but do not know if there will be someone coming. For Dhur Namaaz we have a Jamaat of about 4 to 5 people.
Answer
Once the azaan is called out, we should respond to the call of Allah Ta'ala and go to the Musjid. However if there is no Musjid in the locality then we may perform the Salaah with jamaat at our work places. The azaan should be called out even though there may be only one person.

عن مالك بن الحويرث قال : قدمت على رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم أنا وابن عم لي فقال لنا إذا سافرتما فأذنا وأقيما وليؤمكما أكبركما (جامع الترمذي رقم 205)
حدثنى يزيد بن الأصم سمعت أبا هريرة يقول قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لقد هممت أن آمر فتيتى فيجمعوا حزما من حطب ثم آتى قوما يصلون فى بيوتهم ليست بهم علة فأحرقها عليهم قلت ليزيد بن الأصم يا أبا عوف الجمعة عنى أو غيرها قال صمتا أذناى إن لم أكن سمعت أبا هريرة يأثره عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما ذكر جمعة ولا غيرها (سنن أبي داود رقم 549)
عن عبد الله بن مسعود قال حافظوا على هؤلاء الصلوات الخمس حيث ينادى بهن فإنهن من سنن الهدى وإن الله شرع لنبيه صلى الله عليه وسلم سنن الهدى ولقد رأيتنا وما يتخلف عنها إلا منافق بين النفاق ولقد رأيتنا وإن الرجل ليهادى بين الرجلين حتى يقام فى الصف وما منكم من أحد إلا وله مسجد فى بيته ولو صليتم فى بيوتكم وتركتم مساجدكم تركتم سنة نبيكم صلى الله عليه وسلم ولو تركتم سنة نبيكم صلى الله عليه وسلم لكفرتم (سنن أبي داود رقم 550)
عن ابن عباس قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من سمع المنادى فلم يمنعه من اتباعه عذر قالوا وما العذر قال خوف أو مرض لم تقبل منه الصلاة التى صلى (سنن أبي داود رقم 551)
عن أبى رزين عن ابن أم مكتوم أنه سأل النبى -صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال يا رسول الله إنى رجل ضرير البصر شاسع الدار ولى قائد لا يلائمنى فهل لى رخصة أن أصلى فى بيتى قال هل تسمع النداء قال نعم قال لا أجد لك رخصة (سنن أبي داود رقم 552)
