Communicating before nikaah

Question

My question is that if someone is getting engaged and he she want to chat, is it permissible for the both and if not then is their any other way?

Answer

All premarital relationships are haraam and impermissible. An engagement is not a nikaah. As long as the nikaah is not performed, the boy and girl are non-mahrams to each other and hence their communicating with each other is not permissible

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
