Old person using beads to count the number of rakaats performed

· 10 Shaʻban 1438 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

Due to age, a person cannot remember how many rakaats he prays. There is no one that can remain at his side and guide him throughout his Salaah by guiding him through the postures of Salaah and informing him of what to do. What should he do?

Answer

He should use his discretion. He could also keep four beads or stones at his side and at the completion of each rakaat he should keep one stone aside.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
