Question

If I take pictures of myself and never show it to anyone, is this forbidden too?

Answer

Taking pictures of all animate objects is impermissible. Hence it is impermissible for you to take a picture of yourself irrespective of whether you show it to anyone or not. For a detailed explanation on this topic, refer to our kitaab “Photography and Modern Challenges.”

Are photographs and taking pictures permissible?

“This is not permissible. Through you building a social media app where users will post pictures of animate objects, you will be involved in the sin of photography as well as inviting others to commit this grave sin.”
