Lottery scheme to win a house

Question

In India there is lottery scheme. We can get house on a low budget. First we have to pay some amount then there will be a draw. Whoevers name comes out will win the house. Is participating in this scheme halal or haram.

Answer

This is gambling and gambling is haraam.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
