Asking people to delete one's pictures
Question
I embraced Islam a few years ago. When I was a non-muslim, I was quite a well-known figure and there are pictures of me everywhere. After I embraced Islam, I tried my best to delete what I could, but it is impossible to delete all. There are hundreds of people who might have my pics and I wouldn't even know about it. So is it a sin for me?
Answer
Make it known that you are not at all comfortable with your pictures and they should delete them, and if anyone insists in keeping the pictures then in the presence of Allah Ta`ala they will be responsible.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.

Are photographs and taking pictures permissible?
“This is not permissible. Through you building a social media app where users will post pictures of animate objects, you will be involved in the sin of photography as well as inviting others to commit this grave sin.”
