Wearing a ring to show that one is married

Question

I would like to know according to shariah, what is the basis in Islam for using a ring to show that one is married, whether it be a man or a woman.

Answer

There is absolutely no basis for this. This is an alien kuffaar custom.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
