Zakaat on money received as wedding gifts
Question
Recently my husband and I received a lot of money as gifts for our wedding. My zakaat due date is coming up soon. Since the money was given to both, me and my husband, do I need to take into consideration all of it or half of it when calculating my zakaat?
Answer
If the money was gifted to both of you then half will belong to you. You will have to discharge zakaat of your portion.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
