Nikah in presence of witnesses
Question
My cousin and her fiance' did ijaab and qabul (proposal and acceptance) without a khutba in the presence of two females and one male (the first female is my cousin i.e my brothers wife and the second female is her cousin and the boy is also her cousin). Is this nikah valid?
Answer
The sunnah method of performing the nikah is that the nikah should be performed in public (preferably in the Musjid). Similarly a girl in the matter of nikah should consult her parents and not independently perform her own nikah. However the nikah is valid.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
