Question
Is it permissible to register a company name? Once registered, nobody has the right to use this name except myself. Also, what is the ruling regarding registering a product name under my name? After this, nobody can give their product this name except myself.
Answer
It is not permissible to reserve a name and restrict people from using the name. Every person has the right to choose a name or logo of his choice, as long as the name and logo that he chooses does not deceive people and give the impression that his brand belongs to another company.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
