Omitting the Sunnats on account of qadha salaah

Question

I have a lot qadha salaahs to make up. I am performing as many as possible after each five Salaahs. I perform qadha salaah instead of sunnat ghair muakkadah and nafils. I would like to know, is it ok to miss out performing sunnat muakkada as well so I can complete all my qadhas quicker by being able to pray more?

Answer

One should not omit the sunnat-e-muakkada and sunnat-e-ghair-muakkada on account of the qadha salaah. Instead one should perform the sunnat-e-muakkadah and sunnat-e-ghair-muakkada as well as the qadha salaah. However, in place of nawaafil, one should perform qadha salaah.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

الاشتغال بالفوائت أولى وأهم من النوافل إلا السنن المعروفة وصلاة الضحى وصلاة التسبيح والصلوات التي رويت في الأخبار فيها سور معدودة وأذكار معهودة فتلك بنية النفل وغيرها بنية القضاء كذا في المضمرات (الفتاوى الهندية 1/125)

( ويجوز تأخير الفوائت ) وإن وجبت على الفور ( لعذر السعي على العيال وفي الحوائج على الأصح )

قوله ( ويجوز تأخير الفوائت ) أي الكثيرة المسقطة للترتيب

قوله ( لعذر السعي ) الإضافة للبيان ط أي فيسعى ويقضي ما قدر بعد فراغه ثم وثم إلى أن تتم قوله ( وفي الحوائج ) أعم مما قبله أي ما يحتاجه لنفسه من جلب نفع ودفع ضره وأما النفل فقال في المضمرات الاشتغال بقضاء الفوائت أولى وأهم من النوافل إلا سنن المفروضة وصلاة الضحى وصلاة التسبيح والصلاة التي رويت فيها الأخبار ا هـ ط أي كتحية المسجد والأربع قبل العصر والست بعد المغرب (رد المحتار 2/74)
