Respecting and loving one's mother more than one's wife

Question

Who should a man respect and love more, his mother or his wife?

Answer

The mother. However, it does not mean that he must disregard or not appreciate his wife.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

ثنا بهز بن حكيم، عن أبيه، عن جده، قال: قلت: يا رسول الله من أبرّ قال: أمك قلت: ثم من قال: أمك قلت: ثم من قال: أباك قلت: يا رسول الله ثم من قال: ثم الأقرب فالأقرب، وقال:هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد (المستدرك على الصحيحين للحاكم 4/ 166)
