Leaving the musjid to give azaan while one is in sunnat i'tikaaf

Question

Please advise if it is permissible for a person to come out of the musjid to give the azaan whilst he is in sunnat i'tikaaf.

Answer

Yes, it is permissible.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

ولو صعد المئذنة لم يفسد اعتكافه بلا خلاف وإن كان باب المئذنة خارج المسجد كذا في البدائع والمؤذن وغيره فيه سواء هو الصحيح هكذا في الخلاصة وفتاوى قاضي خان (الفتاوى الهندية 1/212-213)

(أو) شرعية كعيد وأذان لو مؤذنا وباب المنارة خارج المسجد

قال العلامة ابن عابدين رحمه الله: (قوله لو مؤذنا) هذا قول ضعيف والصحيح أنه لا فرق بين المؤذن وغيره كما في البحر والإمداد ح (قوله وباب المنارة خارج المسجد) أما إذا كان داخله فكذلك بالأولى قال في البحر وصعود المئذنة إن كان بابها في المسجد لا يفسد وإلا فكذلك في ظاهر الرواية اهـ ولو قال الشارح وأذان ولو غير مؤذن وباب المنارة خارج المسجد لكان أولى ح (رد المحتار 2/445)

وفي فتاوى قاضي خان والولوالجي وصعود المئذنة إن كان بابها في المسجد لا يفسد الاعتكاف وإن كان الباب خارج المسجد فكذلك في ظاهر الرواية قال بعضهم هذا في المؤذن لأن خروجه للآذان يكون مستثنى عن الإيجاب أما في غير المؤذن فيفسد الاعتكاف والصحيح أن هذا قول الكل في حق الكل لأنه خرج لإقامة سنة الصلاة وسنتها تقام في موضعها فلا تعتبر خارجا اهـ (البحر الرائق 2/326)
