Parents asking their son to cut his beard
Question
I'm 15 years old and I have a small beard. My parents have asked me to cut it saying that I'm too young to keep a beard. What should I do?
Answer
It is compulsory for a male to keep a beard upto a fist length. Cutting or trimming the beard before it reaches a fist length is not permissible and is a major sin. Hence, it is not permissible for you to listen to your parents and cut or trim your beard before it reaches one fist.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: خالفوا المشركين وفروا اللحى وأحفوا الشوارب وكان ابن عمر إذا حج أو اعتمر قبض على لحيته فما فضل أخذه (صحيح البخاري، الرقم: 5892)
عن علي رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بعث جيشا وأمر عليهم رجلا فأوقد نارا وقال: ادخلوها فأرادوا أن يدخلوها وقال آخرون: إنما فررنا منها فذكروا للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال للذين أرادوا أن يدخلوها: لو دخلوها لم يزالوا فيها إلى يوم القيامة وقال للآخرين: لا طاعة في معصية إنما الطاعة في المعروف (صحيح البخاري، الرقم: 7257)
عن النواس بن سمعان قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصية الخالق (شرح السنة للبغوي، الرقم: 2455)
ولا بأس بنتف الشيب و أخذ أطراف اللحية والسنة فيها القبضة ... وفيه قطعت شعر رأسها أثمت ولعنت زاد في البزازية وإن بإذن الزوج لأنه لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصية الخالق ولذا يحرم على الرجل قطع لحيته والمعنى المؤثر التشبه بالرجال اه (الدر المختار 6/407)
(لا) يكره ... تطويل اللحية إذا كانت بقدر المسنون وهو القبضة ... وأما الأخذ منها وهي دون ذلك كما يفعله بعض المغاربة ومخنثة الرجال فلم يبحه أحد وأخذ كلها فعل يهود الهند ومجوس الأعاجم (الدر المختار 2 /417-418)
ودخلا على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وقد حلقا لحاهما وأعفيا شواربهما فكره النظر إليهما وقال: ويلكما من أمركما بهذا ؟ قالا: أمرنا ربنا يعنيان كسرى فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ولكن ربي أمرني باعفاء لحيتي وقص شاربي (البداية والنهاية 6/486)
