Donating money for people in need instead of slaughtering an animal for aqeeqah

Question

I have been blessed with a baby boy and wanted to confirm if the equivalent amount of 2 goats can be donated to flood victims in Pakistan?

Answer

You may send the two goats to Pakistan and tell the people there to slaughter them on your behalf as aqeeqah for your new born baby. Alternatively, you may send the money to Pakistan and appoint the people there to purchase the two goats on your behalf and then slaughter them as aqeeqah for your new born baby.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
