Question

I heard that there is a hadith that advises one not to ask Allah for Sabr. What does this mean?

Answer

When there is no apparent reason for you to ask for sabr then it is not appropriate. Yes, if there is an apparent reason, like someone is struck with an ailment or trial then it is permissible.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
