Is a gun regarded as a necessity when calculating nisaab for qurbaani?

Question

I wanted to find out if guns and bullets (rounds) are considered a need or an extra thing? If a person posseses a gun, is qurbani necessary on him? I've heard that extra things like frames and things in your home are considered in this matter when counting nisaab for qurbani. Please advice

Answer

Possessing a gun and ammunition is regarded to be from among the necessary items, due it being kept for one's protection.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
