Do I have to give dam since I didn’t wear ihram from the madinah meeqat?
Published as Passing the meeqat without entering into ihraam
Question
I am from Pakistan and I am here to perform umrah. My first 3 umrahs are done successfully but when I was coming from Madina after living 10 days on the meeqat. I didn’t wear ihram because I make my mind that I will perform umrah after one day. After one day I will go to Ayesha Mosque and wear ihram from that place. Do I have to give dam since I didn’t wear ihram from the madinah meeqat?
Answer
Yes, if you passed the Meeqat without entering into the state of ihraam, then one damm is compulsory upon you. The damm is a goat or sheep that will have to be slaughtered in the precincts of the Haram as an atonement for the violation. Thereafter, the meat should be distributed among the poor.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
