Question
Is working in a goods and services tax (gst) department allowed in Islam?
What about working in an income tax department?
Answer
The tax charged on goods etc. by the government is not recognized in shariah and is regarded as haraam. Hence, it is not permissible for a Muslim to take employment in such a department as he will be aiding in haraam and his earnings will not be halaal.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
