Doing saee before tawaaf-e-ziyaarah without ihraam
Question
My wife and I went for hajj alhamdulilah. We completed our umrah and waited for the hajj days. The morning of the hajj day, very early, because my wife was pregnant and it was the 8 month of her pregnancy so after advise from prominent ulama they suggested I do the saee for the tawaaf e ziyaraah before the hajj starts. So the morning my wife and I did a nafl tawaaf and with the intention of saee for my wife I joined her to do the saee. In this way we completed the saee and then joined up Ml Olgaa to to do our hajj.
After 5 days of hajj we stayed one extra day in Mina. The next day we came to Makkah and did our tawaaf ziyaraah and my wife did not do the saee as we, according to the advise, she did it before the hajj days, actually the morning before the hajj started. Please advise if this is correct.
Answer
If you both entered into the ihraam of hajj and then did the nafl tawaaf and saee, it will be valid and the saee will suffice on behalf of the saee that was supposed to be done after the Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarah.
However, if you both did not enter into the ihraam of hajj, then the saee will not suffice on behalf of the saee that was supposed to be done after the Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarah. In this case, a dam will have to be given for leaving out the waajib saee.
The dam is that each one of you should slaughter a sheep or goat (which suffices for qurbaani) in the precincts of the haram for leaving out the saee.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
