Question

How can I truly repent from backbiting? I can not find the person I have talked bad about.

Answer

Sincerely beg Allah Ta'ala to forgive you and also make istighfaar on behalf of the person you made gheebat of that Allah Ta'ala forgive him for the sins which he committed in his life.

You should also give some charity or do some good deed and convey the reward of the good deed to the person as an atonement for you speaking ill of him behind his back.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

What counts as backbiting (gheebah)?

“In principle, backbiting a Muslim is a grave sin. In the Qurʾān Majīd, Allah Taʿālā likens backbiting to eating the flesh of one’s dead brother. Numerous stern warnings regarding this sin are also found in the blessed aḥādīth.”
