Can I perform my salaah at home rather than in the musjid?

Question

I want to stay home to focus on my studies and quit going outside because whenever I go outside the home, I get distracted. Can I perform my salaah at home rather than in the musjid?

Answer

More important than studies is performing your salaah with jamaat at the musjid.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

عن أبى هريرة قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لقد هممت أن آمر بالصلاة فتقام ثم آمر رجلا فيصلى بالناس ثم أنطلق معى برجال معهم حزم من حطب إلى قوم لا يشهدون الصلاة فأحرق عليهم بيوتهم بالنار (سنن أبي داود، الرقم: 548)

عن ابن عباس قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من سمع المنادى فلم يمنعه من اتباعه عذر قالوا وما العذر قال خوف أو مرض لم تقبل منه الصلاة التى صلى (سنن أبي داود، الرقم: 551)

عن أسامة بن زيد قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم لينتهين رجال عن ترك الجماعة أو لأحرقن بيوتهم (سنن ابن ماجة، الرقم: 795)

( والجماعة سنة مؤكدة للرجال ) قال الزاهدي أرادوا بالتأكيد الوجوب ... ( وقيل واجبة وعليه العامة ) أي عامة مشايخنا

قال الشامي في رد المحتار : وقال في شرح المنية والأحكام تدل على الوجوب من أن تاركها بلا عذر يعزر وترد شهادته ويأثم الجيران بالسكوت عنه (رد المحتار 1/ 552-554)
