Question

If I possess gold and cash (and no silver) the value of which goes above silver nisaab but remains below the gold nisaab, do I have to pay zakaat on it?

Answer

You will add the value of the gold to the cash you have, and if it reaches the zakaat nisaab (i.e. the nisaab of silver) or more, you will pay 2.5% zakaat on it. Hence, in this case, you will have to pay zakaat on the total value of the gold and cash.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
