Making taubah after surviving a natural disaster

· 1 Jumada II 1447 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

If a person has survived a tsunami or an earthquake, will the taubah of such a person still be accepted for the remaining portion of his life considering the fact that this person has experienced the punishment of Allah.

Answer

As long as one is alive, he has the opportunity to make taubah for his sins and reform his life. A catastrophe or natural disaster for a believer may be a punishment, and it can also be a means of mercy from Allah Ta'ala to draw the servant close to Allah Ta'ala and make him realize his wrongs.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
