Rubbing The Inside Of The Eyes In Wudhu

Question

When wiping eyes corners, I constantly doubt whether I have done it properly. I am sticking my fingers in my eye cases to ensure that I have wiped the corner and also the corner in the edge of the eyelid. Please advise me how to do, I already have lost lot of pairs of contact lenses because of this.

Answer

You do not have to go to this extent. Rubbing the corner is sufficient.

(لا غسل باطن العينين)

قال العلامة ابن عابدين - رحمه الله -: (قوله: لا غسل باطن العينين الخ) لأنه شحم يضره الماء الحار والبارد ولهذا لو اكتحل بكل نجس لا يجب غسله (رد المحتار 1/97)

وفرضه غسل الوجه وغسل اليدين مع المرفقين ومسح ربع الرأس وغسل الرجلين مع الكعبين لما تلونا فالوجه ما يواجه به وهو من قصاص الشعر إلى أسفل الذقن طولا وما بين شحمتي الأذنين عرضا وسقط غسل باطن العينين لما فيه من المشقة وخوف الضرر بهما وبه تسقط الطهارة ويجب غسل ما بين العذار والأذن لأنه من الوجه (الاختيار لتعليل المختار 1/7)

(ولا يجب غسل ما تحته) أي ما تحت الذقن ليس من الوجه وكذا ما تحت الشارب والحاجب لوصول الماء إليه وكذا لا يجب إدخال الماء باطن العينين للحرج (منحة السلوك صــ 52)
