Question

Is it haraam or in any way wrong to give gifts or arrange dinners for those who are coming and going for hajj? For example, if a friend of mine has returned from hajj, is it wrong (from an Islamic point of view) to give her a gift or invite her for a meal?

Answer

Out of happiness, to extend an invitation or to give a gift to the one returning from hajj or umrah is permissible, provided it is not regarded as necessary.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
