Performing Salaah with shoes

Question

Please provide a detailed well-proven answer with regards to performing salaah with shoes on?

Answer

We are commanded to abandon the ways of the Jews and Christians. In this day and age they go to their churches and prayer places with their shoes on. Hence we should oppose them and remove our shoes in salaah.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

عن يعلى بن شداد بن أوس عن أبيه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خالفوا اليهود فإنهم لا يصلون في نعالهم ولا خفافهم (سنن أبي داود، الرقم: 652)

دل هذا الحديث على أن الصلاة في النعال كانت مأمورة لمخالفة اليهود وأما في زماننا فينبغي أن تكون الصلاة مأمورًا بها حافيًا لمخالفة النصارى فإنهم يصلون منتعلين لا يخلعونها عن أرجلهم (بذل المجهود 3/599)

ودخول المسجد متنعلا مكروه كذا في السراجية (الفتاوى الهندية 5/321)

ومن يرى استحباب لبسها (اي النعال) بشرطه إنما استحب لمخالفة اليهود لكن أهل الكتاب أصبحوا اليوم يدخلون كنائسهم ويصلون بنعالهم فتكون المخالفة لهم في خلع النعال لا في لبسها... وقد تطابقت كلمات أهل العلم على أن الصلاة في نعال الشوارع اليوم خلاف الأدب وإن كانت طاهرة بل سوء الأدب كما تجد تفصيل ذلك في منية المفتي للسجستاني وفتح المتعال للعلامة المقري وشرح المشكاة لعلي القاري وغاية المقال للمحدث عبد الحي اللكنوي وغيرها (مقالات الكوثري صـ 228)
