What is the procedure for reading 4 rakaats of nafil Salaah?

Question

What is the procedure for reading 4 rakaats of nafil Salaah? After two rakaats, one will sit in qa'dah. Does one have to read till the end of tashahud only or read Durood shareef etc then stand up? In the second two rakaats will one recite Surah fatiha and a Surah or only Surah fatiha?

Answer

1. Both are permissible.

2. One will recite surah Faatiha and a surah in the second two rakaats of a four rakaat nafil salaah.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
