Supporting a football team

Question

I know you are not allowed to watch football but are you allowed to support a football team?

Answer

In our opinion, this is futile and a good waste of time for which there is no worldly gain nor any gain in the hereafter.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿المؤمنون: ١١٥﴾
