Question

1. Can the toilet face north?

2. Can one have a skylight over a shower?

Answer

1. The toilet should be built in such a way that when one is relieving oneself, one does not face the direction of the qiblah nor does one's back face the direction of the qibla.

2. Yes, provided people are not able to see in the shower while one is bathing.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

( كره ) تحريما ( استقبال قبلة واستدبارها ل ) لأجل ( بول أو غائط )

قال الشامي : قوله ( استقبال قبله ) أي جهتها كما في الصلاة فيما يظهر ونص الشافعية على أنه لو استقبلها بصدره وحول ذكره عنها وبال لم يكره بخلاف عكسه ا هـ أي فالمعتبر الاستقبال بالفرج وهو ظاهر قول محمد في الجامع الصغير يكره أن يستقبل القبلة بالفرج من الخلاء وهل يلزمه التحري لو اشتبهت عليه كما في الصلاة الظاهر نعم ولو هبت ريح عن يمين القبلة ويسارها وغلب على ظنه عود النجاسة عليه فالظاهر أنه يتعين عليه استدبار القبلة حيث أمكن لأن الاستقبال أفحش والله أعلم (رد المحتار 1/ 341)

( ستر عورته ) ووجوبه عام ولو في الخلوة على الصحيح إلا لغرض صحيح وله لبس ثوب نجس في غير صلاة ( وهي للرجل ما تحت سرته إلى ما تحت ركبته )

قال الشامي : قوله ( ووجوبه عام ) أي في الصلاة وخارجها قوله ( ولو في الخلوة ) أي إذا كان خارج الصلاة يجب الستر بحضرة الناس إجماعا وفي الخلوة على الصحيح ... ( إلا لغرض صحيح ) كتغوط واستنجاء وحكي في القنية أقوالا إلا في تجرده للاغتسال منفردا منها أنه يكره ومنها أنه يعذر إن شاء الله ومنها لا بأس به ومنها يجوز في المدة اليسيرة ومنها يجوز في بيت الحمام الصغير (رد المحتار 1/ 404)
